Ancillaries- Draft 7 (Final)

Final Draft
Ancillaries

Self Assessment:

For our final draft of our ancillaries we gave our selves:
Newspaper Advert: 10/10
Double Page Spread: 9/10
This was because one of the actors could have had her hair down.

Teacher Assessment:

After Miss Connell assessed out ancillaries she gave us:
Newspaper Advert:  9/10
Double Page Spread: 10/10
This is because she said it would be better if the people in the advert were dressed in a less distractive clothes.

Peer Assesssment:

After we showed the advert to some people they said:

Newspaper Advert:  10/10
Double Page Spread: 10/10
They said that they could not find any errors and the ancillaries were just like an channel 4 one. They said it was perfect!!!

Documentary - Draft 5 (Final)

This is our final draft of our documentary:

Self Assessment:

For our last draft we were very accurate after marking our documentary, we gave our selves 35/36 out of 40 we thought all of us contributed fairly towards the final draft so we had equal marks for all the members of the group.

Peer Assessment:

People that watched the documentary were very impressed, and they all said we done really well and they learnt a with it. they all gave us 39/40 so they were a little bit generous in the marking. But this only showed us that we done a great job.

Teacher Assessment:

WWW:
- Very informative
-  Very entertaining

EBI:
- We have mentioned more theories
- we we had no cuts
- and if we weren't over time.

5-6 mins

2.     How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
2-3 mins

3.     What have you learned from your audience feedback?
3-4 mins

4.     How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Meeting With Miss Connell

The Saturday we had to edit our documentary, we showed to Miss Connell and she gave us some ideas to make it better before saving the last draft. This helped us a lot, because we had some scenes that were too short, some cuts and specially we were 2 minutes over the time. After showing to her she didn't even realize we went over the limit time, so she said she was entertained throughout the whole documentary , and advised us not to cut at all.

Planning for LAST DRAFT

INTRODUCTION:
·         “Since the 12th century, England has made clear that homosexuality was sinful. Have we, as society, progressed over time towards that perception?”
·         “In this series we will be discovering how people can be ignorant, tolerant and acceptant of the LGBT community.”

IGNORANCE:  40SEC
·         “Normally a person who thinks homosexuality is wrong, due to religious and social reasons (homophobic)”
·         “The discrimination towards gay people has been named as homophobia in the 1960s which signifies antipathy and fear of homosexuals.”
Homophobia:
·         “The fear of being identified as gay can be considered as a form of social homophobia.”
·         “Although in many societies gay men and lesbians are more accepted than in the past, homophobia continues to be prominent around the world.”
·         “The discrimination towards gay people was identified since the beginning of times, but mainly in 1980s, when society blamed gay people to spread the global AIDS epidemic virus, and since then, AIDS has always been closely linked with attitudes towards homosexuals.”
·         “However, LGBT people living in the UK, particularly young people, continue to face homophobia in their everyday lives. Research has shown that two thirds of young gay, lesbian and bisexual pupils have experienced direct bullying in Britain’s schools. 92% of 1,145 lesbian, gay and bisexual pupils reported being subject to verbal abuse, and 41% had been physically assaulted.”
Education:
·         “Education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills, customs and values from one generation to another.”
·         “Many young people still ignorant towards the LGBT people because they were educated by their family and taught that homosexuality is sinful and wrong.”
·         “We will explore that not only the older generation were against and ignorant towards the LGBT Community.”
Religion:
·         “In general, most religions are against homosexuality and the LGBT rights.”
·         “Judaism, Islam, Protestants, Catholics and Evangelical churches has different views towards homosexuality.”
·         Judaism sees homosexuality as extremely sinful, it states that "A man shall not lie with another man as [he would] with a woman, it is abomination" (Leviticus 18:22).
·         Islam - Homosexual activity is a crime and forbidden in most Muslim-majority countries. In the Islamic regimes of Iran, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, North Sudan and Yemen, homosexual activity is punished with the death penalty.
·         Christianity - Most Christian denominations welcome people attracted to the same sex, but teach that homosexual relationships and sexual acts are sinful.

TOLERANCE: (a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward opinions and practices that differ from one's own.)
·         “How are people tolerant towards the LGBT community? Simply because the contemporary society believes it’s right to accept the LGBT community but still don’t feel comfortable around gay people”.
·         “Tolerance” of the Homosexual Lifestyle has become “Forced Acceptance.”
Media:
·         “In this episode we will find out how the media promotes tolerance towards the LGBT community through different platforms.”
·         “The media has a great influence towards our perception of gay people.”
·         “It is relatively new that gay people are represented in the media (TV/film/posters/music videos) whereas before, gay people as any other minority group, had no voice at all, but recently the media has been creating representations of gay people in different platforms.”
·         “Is this representation progressive? Is the media really promoting tolerance, or is it just creating stereotypes in order to the audience feels familiar with the LGBT community?”
·         VOICEOVER - “Stereotypes about them are conventional. The gay community is constantly battling with the negative image and trying to overcome stereotypes in television, films, magazines and other media platforms. However the coverage has become more positive in recent years, possibly in an attempt by marketers to appeal to LGBT people.
·         STATISTICS - “Just 46 minutes out of 126 hours of the media’s representation shows gay people positively and realistically”.
·         “The lack of being positively represented by the media, shows that we are not fully accepting the LGBT Community”
·         EXAMPLES
Music Videos – not represented enough to promote acceptance
Television – gay couples are sexualised, feminine
Films
Magazines
·         “We can see that media portrays stereotypes for LGBT community, for example in this Eastenders scene (shows scene) gay couples are represented in a much sexualised way and does our society nowadays accept this portrayal?”

ACCEPTANCE
Campaigns:
·         “In order to promote acceptance towards LGBT community, charities like Stonewall for example, promotes campaigns”
-          It gets better
-          Some people are gay, get over it
·         “These campaigns have great results, and it actually impacts society positively about gay people.”
·         “More recently Stonewall has formed partnerships with organisations outside Parliament to ensure the rights and needs of lesbians, gay men and bisexuals are addressed in the wider community.”
·         “Stonewall has also raised public awareness in terms of civil partnership, through our Get Hitched guide, and on the changes to the employment regulations relating to sexual orientation through guides for both employers and employees.”

Celebrity Icons:
·         Lady Gaga –
“Gaga attributes much of her early success as a mainstream artist to her gay fans and is considered to be a gay icon. Early in her career she had difficulty getting radio airplay, and stated,
-          "The turning point for me was the gay community. I've got so many gay fans and they're so loyal to me and they really lifted me up. They'll always stand by me and I'll always stand by them. It's not an easy thing to create a fan base."
-          "Today and every day we fight for freedom. We fight for justice. We beckon for compassion; understanding and above all we want full equality now".
Poker Face (Bisexuality)
Born this way (Proud to be LGBT)
